| The Salon de mai, in Marseilles, the opening of which we announced in our last issue, obtained the most
big success. The Marseille public gave the most enthusiastic reception to the works presented to them.
One could indeed admire, at this radiant event, canvases by Renoir and Cézanne, by Bonnard,
Maurice Denis, Van Dongen, Francisco Durio, Flandrin, Friesz, Charles Guérin, Laprade, Henri Lebasque, Maximilien Luce, Manguin, Jacqueline Marval, de Mathan, Puy, Methey, Rouault, Roussel, Paul Signac, Vallotton, sculptures by Rodin and by Maillol.
With regard more specifically to the celebration of Provence, let us quote the firm paintings of Chénard Huche, Chabaud, Giraud, and Mathieu Verdilhan, the beautiful and serious compositions of Pierre Girieud and Alfred Lombard, the seductive sendings of Camoin , Seyssaud, Fernand Nathan, a plump old woman's head by the sculptor André Verdilhan, etc., etc.
