| Mr. Girieud exposes landscapes a little hard, and a Toilet of Venus where he shows a firm concern to draw scrupulously beautiful naked bodies, Venus out of the wave, surrounded by his usual companions. This table is nice and deserves a benevolent review because of the research it shows. But there is something missing, which is perhaps simply that Mr. Girieud forgot that he painted Venus: we would like more softness in the color, which is bright and icy, more grace in the way of blame the outlines. |
