Contained about Girieud
(...) It would be necessary to also indicate in these notes the robust paintings of Mr. Dufrénoy, still lifes and landscapes, as well as the ingenious sculptures of Mr. Marque. But we would like to draw attention to another exhibition, which takes place in the same room, of an artist of great merit and from whom the time has yet to come. Mr. Girieud, who showed himself to be fond of great composition, only shows works of small dimensions, laughing and noble landscapes of Provence like those of Greece themselves, some quite naturally haunted by nudes. Whether it is a temperament classic or a modern who speaks a classical language, we will leave it to him to decide; the fact is that the artist should no longer go unnoticed.
