As for the Greeks, they are exquisite; understanding, attentive, they welcomed me perfectly, making my life as good as possible. I knew I stayed there for four months, I couldn't tear myself away. I haven't done the thousandth part of what we can do ... It would take five or six lives for that! I only brought back 28 paintings, done as always on the admirable paper by Gaspard Maillol. I wanted to do more but first I wanted to try to understand the country, and I went for a walk before working. But I'm going to show you what I did and that I plan to exhibit in Paris from May 11 to 20. And Girieud shows me his works ... They are very advanced, luminous to the extreme, built with a master's hand, worthy of Poussin's landscapes. It is a sequel that reveals Girieud, who raises him above himself.
