Contained about Girieud
Pierre Girieud who was one of our most authentic big cats found the classic landscape at the end of his path. This path, it must be said, had taken him to Provence, Italy and Greece, wherever Mediterranean light gives nobility to the slightest fisherman's or shepherd's hut when it is flanked by a cypress or buried in olive trees. Even more so when on purple hills stand golden temples facing the Cerulean sea or when villages cling to the mountain which they crown with their castles and steeples ..... The Mediterranean miracle is there, present in all of Girieud's works, on all of the landscapes he exhibits, whether painted in Gattières, Falicon, around Nice, or Roussillon, Apt and Saint- Rémy-de-Provence, or even in Nafplion, Greece. Same balance, same light, same size and let's face it, same charm. And we will find, perhaps, even more tenderness in the Marseille compositions, more meditation, more style. A portrait of Girieud by himself is expressive at will and vigorous bouquets of roses, tulips and anemones attest that the decorator of the town hall of Ivry remained one of our powerful colorists
