Quite different is Pierre Girieud; he shows us landscapes of Provence, in muffled light, a view of Siena, an Acropolis reduced to its great architectural masses, some portraits, that of the painter himself, devoid of indulgence, with a receding forehead and protruding muscles of the face and neck; finally noble compositions, characters harmoniously grouped near a Mediterranean shore, terrace whose balustrade decorated with a large sheaf of velvety tulips has an undeniable decorative effect.
